Renee graduated from Notre Dame of Maryland University earning her BA in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She then obtained her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, where her research focused on the development of broadly protective SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. She also researched epigenetic regulation of HIV as a cure strategy. She briefly returned to Notre Dame of Maryland University to instruct an Introduction to Biology lab course and served as an instructional lab manager. Renee joined the Office of Research Safety team at the University of Chicago in January of 2025.
