James (Jim) Marsicek was hired by the University as a health physicist in July 1998. From 1990 until joining the Office of Radiation Safety, Jim worked as a health physics consultant with a Chicago-area consulting firm, where he provided consulting and teaching assistance to many clinical, research, and industrial facilities. In 2000, he was promoted to associate director and was assigned the University radiation safety officer responsibilities in November 2002. Jim has been involved with many changes at the University in both the research and clinical areas. Some of these changes involved building decommissioning surveys to make way for new building projects; developing new security measures for radioactive materials; assisting with planning new facilities for research or clinical procedures; and assisting in the planning of new research and patient clinical procedures, to name a few. With years of prior experience and University knowledge and experience, Jim is a reliable asset to the University community.
